Risk management

Capture, assess and prioritise risks: Cevoraine connects the risk situation with responsibilities, actions and the current project assessment.

  • Classify risks by status, category and score
  • Make responsibilities and outstanding risk exposure visible
  • Connect risks with actions and project progress

Value: focus attention on the risks that need the most action.

Project control example

A risk affecting the cost forecast is assessed and assigned to an owner. An action to improve the underlying data can then be tracked.

Question

Which option resolves the reported clash between ventilation and the ceiling, and what does it mean for schedule and costs?

Design clash before fit-out approval

Two solutions have been prepared for the hotel corridor. Option B costs less and causes less delay in this scenario. It can only be recommended once the architect and engineers have confirmed clear height, acoustics and connection details.

The coordination minutes report a clash between the ventilation duct route and the ceiling structure. The architectural and ventilation drawings have different revision levels. The jointly valid drawing revisions must therefore be established before choosing an option. [P1]

The schedule links ventilation installation, ceiling closure and acceptance in the same dependent sequence. With two working days of float, option A’s six extra working days result in four days of delay; option B’s three extra working days result in one day. Any delay before the decision may add to this. [P2, P3]

Options after the decision
OptionAdditional cost · CHFSchedule impact
A · Reroute ventilation18’0006 extra working days − 2 days of float = 4 days of delay.
B · Adjust ceiling locally9’0003 extra working days − 2 days of float = 1 day of delay; technical approval pending.

Proposed actions

  1. Architect & building services engineers · by T+1Align drawing revisions and check clear height, acoustics and connections for option B; document outstanding points.
  2. Design engineers & contractor · by T+1Confirm additional costs and duration for both options; state affected work and assumptions.
  3. Construction manager & client · by T+2Approve the option, update the schedule sequence and record the decision with the drawing revision and cost position.
Demo data, sources & outstanding checks

Starting point

  • Reported clash in the hotel corridor; architectural drawing A-23 R5 and ventilation drawing L-11 R3 have not yet been jointly approved. [P1]
  • Option estimates: A CHF 18’000 / 6 extra working days; B CHF 9’000 / 3 extra working days. [P2]
  • Available float in the affected sequence: 2 working days. [P3]

Fictional documents

  • [P1] Coordination minutes K-12 with drawing references A-23 R5 and L-11 R3.
  • [P2] Options sheet V-04 · Unverified contractor and design engineer estimates.
  • [P3] Master schedule T-04 R2 · Dependencies and float for the hotel corridor.

Assumptions & outstanding checks

  • The clash comes from the fictional coordination minutes; no 3D model is checked in this example.
  • Additional duration starts from the option decision. Drawing revisions, estimates and available float require specialist confirmation. T is the day of the coordination meeting; deadlines are proposals.
The architect and design engineers confirm the technical solution. The construction manager checks the schedule; the client approves the additional cost and option.

Benefit: a design issue becomes a basis for decision, with options, costs, schedule impacts and clear approvals.

Cevoraine connects data and project control. Planning, costs, risks, actions and meeting knowledge provide context for AI-assisted analysis. The technical core governs access and traceability. Structavis adds construction expertise.
